Course Summary

The high technology sectors in both industrial and commercial areas in Singapore house several cleanrooms, these have become essential in the production and manufacturing process. The essential concepts and understanding of cleanroom technology is gaining importance as professionals are tasked to maintain and operate these cleanrooms. Within this 2 days’ workshop, examples of cleanroom applications include the manufacture of integrated circuits, electronic components, precision mechanical assemblies, info-communication  technology,  medical  field,  pharmaceuticals  and  bio-chemicals industry and others. This course aims to help energy managers optimise the energy usage for a cleanroom.


Course Objective

Upon completion of this course, the participants should be able to develop good understanding of:

  1. Cleanroom Basics
  2. Applications and Classification of cleanrooms
  3. Basic design of cleanrooms within different sectors and industries
  4. Air conditioning, air change rates and mechanical ventilation requirement for cleanrooms
  5. Standards for the cleanrooms design and operation
  6. Application of demand ventilation control
  7. Cost benefit analysis of energy retrofit projects and projection

Dr. Jahangeer K. Abdul Halim graduated with a Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Mechanical Engineering from National University of Singapore in 1998. He was awarded a Research Scholarship by the National University of Singapore (NUS) in 1999 to undertake a research project on solar energy and was awarded a Master of Engineering (M.Eng.) degree in 2002.


Dr. Lal Jayamaha is the author of the book “Energy Efficient Building Systems” published by McGraw-Hill, USA and the founder of LJ Energy Pte Ltd which is one of the leading ESCOs in Singapore
